How did Michael and Hannah meet? Through the wild world of dating apps! Michael moved to Charleston in December of 2021 and a month later, matched with Hannah on Hinge. Although he claims she “ghosted” him for a few days, she came back and spontaneously asked him if he wanted to get a drink after work the following day. They met up at Holy City Brewing and while Hannah told Michael to look for her in the “grandma sweater”, they stayed and talked until the brewery was closing down for the night. From then they were inseparable - always finding more reasons to spend time together and get to know each other's friends. Although only knowing Hannah for a short period of time, when it came time to help her move into her first home, he jumped at the opportunity and met her best friends and future bridesmaids in the process.

At the time, Michael was working third shift, which meant that time was extremely valuable to them and forced them to be very intentional with how they spent their time together. This eventually led to the two moving in together in November of 2022. Hannah knew this was a bit fast, but felt strongly about Michael and warned him that if he was going to move in, he should plan on never moving out - they were in it for the long haul.

Their love grew through shared interests of adventure, sports, good beer, and late-night dance parties in the living room. They love traveling the world together and so far have vacationed in Hawaii, Texas, Canada, Germany, and Austria to name a few. In January of 2023, they got their Golden Retriever, Cosmo together and could not be more obsessed with him. Through raising him they have grown as a couple and continued to make even happier memories with their little family of three.

On their trip in the fall of 2023, they planned on going to Oktoberfest and then traveling through Germany and Austria together. But first, they made a quick pit stop in London as their favorite team, Liverpool, just happened to be playing in the city. Michael and Hannah’s trip overlapped with their friend’s Kate and Adam who were having their last day in London while Michael and Hannah had their first. What were the odds that friends who lived 15 minutes away from each other would be in London at the same time?? So, they met up at Kensington Gardens to walk around and catch up before grabbing brunch. The group got to a point in the gardens with a beautiful fountain and flowers overlooking a pond. To Hannah’s pleasant surprise, Michael asked to take a picture together (this never happens). They took their turn and then when Hannah was done taking pictures for Kate and Adam, Michael said the pictures weren’t good and asked if we could take another. Hannah and Michael got back in position and while posing, Michael got down on one knee and asked Hannah to marry him! Hannah was completely surprised as photos can show, her jaw literally dropped, but the answer was an immediate “YES!”. September 30th, 2023 is a day they will both remember forever and was the best start to their two-week vacation. Why didn’t Michael propose in the first round of pictures? He had the ring so secure in his zipper pocket that he couldn’t get it out in time!
